Description
During my final-year internship, I designed and developed an immersive ARG-based serious game to help new university students integrate into academic life. The project combines Virtual Reality, gamification, and narrative design to teach essential learning skills while encouraging exploration of the campus.
The game takes place in real university locations recreated using 360° video, filmed on-site with a camera mounted on a remotely controlled robot. Players navigate lecture halls, offices, the library, and computer rooms through interactive VR scenes.
The experience follows a narrative-driven mystery, blending VR gameplay with real-world interactions such as quizzes and email exchanges. Each stage is designed around a pedagogical objective, particularly improving note-taking, information retention, and study organization through progressive challenges.
I handled the full design and implementation of the project, including scenario writing, game structure, pedagogical design, and VR interactions, using Wixar’s authoring tools to connect scenes, quizzes, and narrative progression.
This project demonstrates how immersive technologies and serious games can transform educational onboarding into an engaging and meaningful learning experience.
